Shots Fired is Back: Ammo Shortage Hits in 2026, Crazy Gun Stories, and Boots on the Ground Rumors

Hey everyone, if you’ve been following the gun world lately, you’ve probably felt it—that uneasy mix of “here we go again” and straight-up disbelief at some of the headlines. After a long hiatus, the Shots Fired podcast just dropped Episode 193, and hosts TJ Kirgin (@Sig_Glockincolt) from right here in St. Peters, Missouri, and Alex Milberg (@dynadeathmilberg) jumped back in swinging. They’re tackling the fresh 2026 ammo crunch, a wild quadruple-amputee shooting case, an Arizona gun dealer caught in an ATF sting, loose talk from a San Diego stripper about troop movements, and the latest twist in the Charlie Kirk assassination investigation.

I sat down with the full episode and pulled out the real talk—no fluff, just the kind of unfiltered discussion you actually want when things feel chaotic. Let’s break it down like we’re grabbing coffee (or a range day) together.

The 2026 Ammo Shortage: Panic Buying Already Started

Right out of the gate, the guys confirm what a lot of us have been seeing on shelves and in group chats: yes, another ammo shortage is unfolding in 2026.

Unlike the 2020-2021 mess driven by COVID factory shutdowns, riots, and a flood of first-time buyers, this round feels tied to overseas conflicts—specifically the ongoing situation many are calling the Iran-related tensions. Major manufacturers like Winchester, Federal, and PMC have quietly shifted priority to military contracts. Civilian shipments are drying up fast.

TJ and Alex walk through the supply chain realities: bullets, powder, primers, and brass are all getting tight. 9mm (especially 115 and 124 grain) and 5.56 are the first to feel the pinch. Subsonic 147-grain 9mm already has month-long backorders in places. Prices? Expect 4-6% jumps across the board, with some 5.56 cases climbing $10–30 soon.

They even launched their own MouseFart subsonic 147 FMJ and hollow-point line to help fill the gap. Turkish imports are delayed 3-4 months, possibly landing in early winter.

Their advice rings practical: If you’ve got a decent stockpile already, don’t panic buy and drive prices higher. Ride it out through summer—things could ease if things de-escalate overseas. But if you’re low, smart shopping now beats scrambling later.

Quadruple Amputee Charged in Fatal Shooting – The Details Are Wild

One story that had both hosts shaking their heads involves a quadruple amputee (no arms or legs) accused of shooting his passenger dead after an argument. According to reports, the man somehow drove, drew a gun one-handed, and fired. He then allegedly asked bystanders for help disposing of the body and dumped it in a yard.

The discussion gets raw and real: How exactly do you unholster and shoot while driving with that level of disability? What was the passenger thinking? And yes, they touch the uncomfortable angle—stories like this get weaponized in gun debates, even when the facts paint a criminal use, not lawful self-defense.

They throw in some dark humor about cornhole skills and reference Colin Noir’s takes on disability and firearms, keeping the tone honest rather than preachy.

Arizona Gun Dealer Faces Terrorism Charges in ATF Sting

Next up: a serious case involving Larry Horse (Lawrence Gray) of Grips by Larry, an FFL near the Mexican border. He and another dealer got hit with charges including aiding terrorism, straw purchases, and falsified 4473 forms.

Undercover ATF/DHS agents reportedly posed as cartel enthusiasts (complete with rooster grips nodding to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel). They bought a .38 Super 1911 first, then a massive $42,000 package: two FN 249S semi-autos, an SLR (semi-auto M2 equivalent), and a .50 cal Barrett sniper rifle. The buyer openly mentioned the guns were heading to Mexico “soon.”

TJ and Alex point out the multiple “outs” the dealer had—refusing the sale, calling the ATF tip line, etc.—especially with all the border alerts about cartel trafficking. They stress how FFLs can be held liable for downstream crimes, and how “time-to-crime” tracing gets used aggressively.

The hosts criticize how some YouTube voices immediately spin these stories against the Second Amendment without full context. Bottom line: border gun-running to Mexico (which has no real domestic manufacturing) is a real issue, and Trump’s labeling of cartels as terrorists adds weight.

Loose Lips (and Everything Else) Sink Ships – The Stripper Story

Around the 40-minute mark, things take a lighter-but-still-serious turn with a San Diego stripper named “Charm” who posted a video claiming Marines (later corrected to airmen) were spending wildly and getting emotional about upcoming Afghanistan-style deployments.

Alex’s reaction is gold: “Marines would be beyond excited—drooling and foaming at the mouth to go.” They tie it to rumors of U.S. boots on the ground in the current conflict—around 3,500 Marines plus special operations forces, two carrier groups, reports of casualties, a downed F-15 (maybe A-10?), and bombed bridges.

Speculation runs high: possible push for uranium/enriched materials, Israel staying out of ground ops, Houthis causing Red Sea headaches. The guys vent about shifting propaganda, rapid policy flips (Venezuela oil and Maduro mentions), and the lack of a clear “mission accomplished” moment.

It’s classic barbershop-style talk—equal parts skepticism, dark humor, and genuine concern for troops.

Update on the Charlie Kirk Assassination Case

Closing out the episode, they cover the defense requesting a delay in the Charlie Kirk killing case because the ballistics report apparently fails to link the bullet to the accused gun. Mangled projectile? Striation issues? The hosts call it weird and question how forensic TV shows make it look so clean.

Final Thoughts from the Return Episode

TJ and Alex make it clear they’re back because listeners asked for it, and the world keeps serving up “shots fired” stories. They plan weekly drops (maybe Fridays for Saturday release), potential skits, guests, and more fun alongside the serious topics. They shout out their sponsor Outcast watches—tough field pieces with shooting-specific features like mill/MOA conversions and wind calculations.

If you’re in the gun community, whether you carry daily, reload on weekends, or just follow the news, this episode feels like catching up with old friends who don’t sugarcoat things.
